Red Ear Slider enclosure check list and Baby RES turtle care.

Red Ear Sliders are cold blooded reptiles, they are not able to maintain or regulate  their own temperature.

They need an external source for regulation of body temperature like water, sunlight or shadow regions. So they can bask, and hide in their enclosure.

We will discuss about three factors :-

1. Sunlight / Basking

2. Water

3. Temperature / Heater

4. Food

5. Brumate Stage

1. Sunlight :-

Sunlight should be provided to turtles in the early morning, from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM. In most parts of India, the sun becomes too harsh after 9:00 AM, which can quickly lead to dehydration and heat stroke. Alternatively, the evening sun after 4:00 PM is also safe and beneficial. Natural sunlight is an excellent source of essential Vitamin D for turtles. If natural sunlight is unavailable, you can use a UVB light as an artificial source. Various UVB bulbs, specialized fixtures, and light regulators are readily available in pet stores, and  in online marketplaces. However, precautions must be taken when setting up these lights, as incorrect wiring or poor connections can easily fuse the bulb or damage the holder. Finally, ensure the lamp is securely placed 18 to 24 inches above the turtle's basking area.

Basking area is a must in the enclosure. Basking area is defined as a place or region in an enclosure where a reptile can come up in a dry region and take light from a natural or artificial source. The basking area keeps the turtle out of stress. Basking can be made by various ways from the cheap to expensive. The cheapest way is by keeping a rock or pebble of flat shape. Colour Stones and small pebbles are a big no. There are various movable basking platforms available in marketplaces which can be attached to enclosures by suctions or hanging threads. Best way to have a basking is have a glass sticked parallel on corner and attach a ladder glass cover it with a green mat. This will help them to climb on it. Basking region should be of rough surface. Which helps Reptiles to climb on it properly.

2. Water :-

The water area helps in Colling place and regions to feed. Turtles usually feed in the water area. Turtles stay hydrated in water and love to swim. Water needs to be cleaned and maintained properly. If unclear and dirty water is there they may suffer with various infections. To give clean water it's important to have a proper filter in the aquarium or turtle tank. People usually buy power filters which can hamper growth of turtles this filter should be avoided. Low stream or low power filter should be used.

Filters like hang on back corners are ideal for turtles if possible use proper glass cover or plastic covers on filters so turtles cannot damage the filter body and wiring. Avoiding cover may lead to damage in the filter and electric shock in the enclosure which may cause a threat to the turtle as well as hobbyists.

Filters should have good sponge and need to be cleaned from time to time. Clean water will give a healthy lifestyle to turtles.

3. Temperature :- Temperature is the key role in Turle's Enclousure. You need to have a tempreture of around 26 to 28 is optiumum. As per my carrer in reptile selling i have divided regions in India with optimim tempreture of particular region.

North India, North east India is ideal at 30 to 32 degree Celcius.

East west and Central India should have around 26 to 30 degree celcius.

South is ideal at 26 to 30 degree celcius.

If the tempreture go down drastically at your place turtle shows the sign of resperstion you need to set your heater at 32. You should isolate or guard your aquarium heater as your turtle grows because larger and stronger turtles can crack glass heaters or burn themselves.

4. Food :-

The most challangeble stuff I come across is about food and turtle very choose in this matter. First thing comes is whatever habbit you give they are going to accept that. Market has freeze dried blood worms, freeze dried shrimps, dried super worms or meal worms last comes pellets bifurcated into Baby, Regular, Economy, Premium. Baby food is like small size pellets but when logic comes here turtle loves to eat in water and pellets moist it brakes them so buying this is not a good option. Regular range of pellet are of normal medium size of half an centimeter they moist in water turtle eats them regular range has 35 percent protein. economy range has low protein are cheap and favoured by big turtle parents who saves money. Ingrdients are also of economy grade which makes it cheap I say big no to this. Last comes the premium food It has exellent amount of protein good ingredients . If you have good money spending go for it. Make sure the brand supplys 365 days have a good avability.

5. Brumate Stage :-

Whenever the weather changes turtle stops its feeding and can stay without food for a long period time it can to months also. this Stage is Brumate stage. What you shoud do here ? Nothing, Just wait for him to eat they will start eating. Converting them into worms or other food will not give them proper nutrition which an average turtle food has. If the turtle is becoming weak do a carrot soak half inch carrot juice soak the turtle leave it back in lukewarm water. Consult a vet too.

Some important points in brief :-

1. Dont keep in air conditioner or fan.

2. Keep away from rats cats dog other animal.

3. Big turtle is not going to stay with small one.

4. Lacting kid mother and Pregnent lady should avoid at first place.

5. Better to buy whole setup. instaed of Juggads.
