When it comes to starting your aquarium we don’t get to see lot of options because a local aquarium store can’t display that much. The best way to purchase an aquarium is knowing what u want in this blog.

First mistake to avoid is to not buy bowl and plastic tanks which are very cruel for fish and do not help in any way in fish keeping.

Once we enter an aquarium shop we come across two types of setup one is molded tanks usually made in China of different size which have inbuilt filter added with light and cover. Old myth about this tanks are they are made of fiber but this tanks are made of a fine quality thin glass. They hold up water properly.

This options gives huge holes in your pocket.

Second option we see is they ask u the size of the tank not molded not fancy they make that in that shop and give it to you. Only thing here concern is mm (thickness) of the glass. Experienced aquarium maker will suggest you proper mm as per capacity of the tank. (Will provide u table below). In this option you can customized your tank as per your need. You just need to be precise with tank size u want. What you want to scape, which fish you are going to keep. This aquarium are quite cheap and hobbyist love them. This aquarium give extra room for Scaping. Unlike the molded tanks with limitation.

Once we are done with our tank. In readymade molded tanks we need to add decor and background, if the season is cold heater is must. Next comes to buy good filter media in small portion to keep in filter buckets.

In customized tank here comes arduous part but it’s a fun part. With this tank important part which we need is filter, heater (cold season) and cover which is necessary. Other part is decor which includes the light, background, pebbles, and other hardscape which is not necessary. But to look good they are needed.

Leakage concern can be just avoided by asking your aquarist about its old assignment silicone he use. Recommended and trusted silicone is DOWSEL used by most of the aquarist.   Now the question arise which filter? Which cover? Which light? This questions will be answered in future blogs.
